Stafsjö enters into distributor agent agreement with Oriental Tech Co., Ltd. in South Korea
Stafsjö signs a distributor agreement with Oriental Tech Co. Ltd. in South Korea. An agent who has worked continuously with the Korean pulp and paper industry for more than 37 years, Oriental has built close relationships and strong bonds to many customers in the country south of the 38th parallel.
– A lot happens here. We have some sixty paper mills with around 120 paper machines and production of paper, board and different hygiene products. Some 60 % is sold on the domestic market. This is where we see a growth potential, says Andreas Johansson, Sales Director at Stafsjö.
South Korea is about the same size as Hungary, but has a population of 51 million inhabitants. Densely populated with an urban demographic, South Korea is recognized as one of the ”Tiger economies” of Asia, the fastest growing on the continent, and currently the world’s 11th largest economy. For the EU, South Korea is an important trading partner, and for Sweden, the third largest export market in Asia.
As one of the most industrialized nations in the world, South Korea is at the forefront in many industrial sectors. With a high level of digitalisation and ”smart” cities, it is a consumer-oriented economy with its own automotive, electronics, power solution, health and medical care manufacturing industries, in which the paper industry plays a key role.
The market for transport packaging and wrapping is growing naturally in an economy based on global e-commerce. Whilst demand for hygiene products such as nappies, sanitary towels and protection pads is strong, the market for newsprint and paper for graphic purposes is declining.
– We are interested in being a good agent for the Stafsjö company and to represent the product portfolio within the Korean pulp and paper industry. We have been an agent since 1983 and is a well known supplier of well-established, international brands to the Korean pulp and paper industry, says CY Cho, President of Oriental Tech Co. Ltd.
Stafsjö has a solid base in Asia and a larger number installed products and solutions.
